WEB SITE IN PROGRESS

Recently I changed my site provider. What you see here is not completed. But I do want you to know this website is in progress! Come back later for more. Thanks for stopping by!

I am based on San Juan Island in Washington State. I have loved making music with people since I was a kid growing up in the 1970s.

I am passionate to attain the fleeting gift of supporting myself as a traveling musician. And behold! Here I am! There I go! comfortable in my musical skin and basking in the connections I get with people through playing and performing music.

Do you need some live music for an event? Maybe you would like to have a house concert for a group of friends or associates? Do you need a Crooner?

For 20+ years, until New Year’s Eve 2015, I worked at Spokane Public Radio, an NPR affiliate, where I was a team member in production, outreach, and fundraising.

I took my first job in hospitality in 2015. Since then I have worked as an innkeeper and maintenance tech in RV Parks, Inns, and Bed and Breakfasts across the country. I have performed in the neighborhood of 200+ house concerts for guests.

I have also played private house concerts, weddings, public squares, train stations, art galleries, county parks, county fairs, festivals, bars, restaurants, taverns, campfires, on-board boats and RVs, and various other locales.

Sometimes, when on San Juan Island, you might find me busking at Fairweather Park near the Friday Harbor Marina, or at any of a handful of favorite spots of tranquil beauty, singing to the eagles, buffleheads, foxes, and sea lions.

Sometimes it’s playing for passing paddling kayakers. What does it sound like from one hundred yards off the bluff at South Beach?

ABOUT

Originally from Southern California, PK grew up in LA and Orange Counties. His father, Bill Klausen (link coming for BK music), played ukulele and four-stringed guitar and was a casual musician performing with friends.

Patrick began playing guitar at around ten years old. Blackbird was one of the first tunes he remembers learning. Patrick started playing music for people when high school buddies, Mike Patterson and Joel Easton, invited him to play weekends on the Huntington Beach Pier for people passing by. There were a few garage bands Patrick sang and played bass in around that time like The Rolling Donuts where lots of Neil Young tunes were covered and The Fabulous Kings that was mostly a four piece electrified blues combo.

Patrick moved to Spokane during the last decade of the last century and that's where lots more music was made. There he played solo and duo gigs with Rory Marrero at the Wine Cellar in Coeur d'Alene and with bands Dead Flowers with Steve and Laurie Jackson and Laffin Bones with Neil Elwell and Michael Moon bear.

Patrick started playing double bass during his time with Laffin Bones, and in the early 2000's PK sang and played upright with Big Red Barn, that combo lasted for nearly 14 years. "That was my most favorite band I've been in" with guitarist Ken Glastre, Charlie Gurche on banjo and dobro, and songwriter and mandolin player Kevin Brown. Big Red Barn played festivals, private parties, and taverns all over the region, and while they were together, released two CDs, "Big Red Barn" and "Barn Again." He also continued his musical interests while on staff with lots of talented folks at Spokane Public Radio for more than 20 years. In 2015 Patrick, dog Iggy, and former wife took off from Spokane on a year-long adventure traveling around the west and southwest in a 23 foot RV. That year, PK played lots of music in taverns, RV parks, and campgrounds while making new friends and visiting 10 states.

During 2016 PK became an innkeeper in Virginia, in the Blue Ridge Mountains. That's when he began to play House Concerts for guests of the Mountain Rose Inn on a weekly basis. In 2017 he was an innkeeper and continued playing House Concerts at Hacienda del Sol in Taos, New Mexico. And in 2018 he moved to San Juan Island to work as an innkeeper for the Tucker House Inn and Harrison House Suites where there were many House Concerts. Fast forward to 2025 and who knows where fate will lead.
